Kennesaw State dropped the puck on the home portion of their 2022-23 Schedule when they hosted the Middle Tennesse State Blue Raiders on Friday night. A packed Atlanta Ice House was energetic and noisy from the announcements of the starting lineups, and it certainly contributed to the play of the Owls.
Despite allowing an early power-play goal, KSU controlled play during the opening period and battled back to take a 2-1 lead into the intermission with goals from (48)Aaron Montgomery and (18)Chris Scott. Undisciplined play cost the Owls in the second period, though, as Middle Tennessee outscored KSU 4-0,
including 3 power-play goals. The second-period onslaught was all the Blue Raiders needed, as they won the game 7-4.
A 3-goal loss may be disheartening, but the Owls showed much improvement. If they can keep the play 5-on-5, they will have a good shot at even the season series with the Blue Raiders. The loss Friday drops Kennesaw State’s record to 0-5-0, with all 5 losses coming by at least 3 goals. Kennesaw State looks to bounce back Saturday night, September 24th, at the Atlanta Ice House. Puck drop at 9:40 pm.
