Kennesaw State finished the 2022 portion of their schedule on Thursday night with a
disappointing 5-0 loss to Georgia in Athens. This was the second time in as many games as the
Ice Dawgs have shut out KSU, as Georgia thrashed the Owls 14-0 on November 4th.
The Owls and Ice Dawgs squared off in the converted ballroom in the Classic Center. But this
was no ballet, these two fierce rivals went at each other physically from the first drop of the
puck. As the saying goes, it takes two to tango, and the Owls were more than worthy dance
partners for the first half of the tightly-contested game. KSU was structured and stingy
defensively but Georgia was relentless on the attack. Multiple power-play opportunities forced
goaltender (35)Connor Lakly to make saves that looked like he was break dancing in the
crease. Eventually, the pressure became too much for the Owls, and by the end of the second
period, Georgia’s lead had swelled to 4-0. Georgia would waltz through the third period and
two-stepped their way to a 5-0 win.
This brings KSU’s record to 2-10-0-0 overall, and 1-5-0-0 in the division. The Owl's next game
will be on January 6th against Georgia Tech at home.
